// May 27th, 2009 // No Comments » // I(mprobable) R(eally) L(ong) G(ame)

This weeks IRLG was a matching language game.  Students were presented with John 3:16 written in ten different languages.  They then had to correctly match 8 out of 10 languages or get the bonus round worth three extra points.  Need less to sya no winner was found for tonight.  So, the winner’s pot is now at a copy of “Venti Jesus, Please” and now $25 gift card at WalMart.  Take a look at the slides and see if you can get them all right.

Uprising – leading the rebellion

This week we take a serious look at who should be leading our uprising.  I think the following video says it all.

Uprising – making changes

// May 23rd, 2009 // No Comments » // 8teen:twenty

foam_swordI want you to think, just for one moment.  Think about leading a revolution.  Would you want to do with a foam sword?  A little crazy, don’t you think?  This week we look at How an uprising constitutes a need for change.    In Matthew 9:14-17 we see something interessting taking place.  Jesus is telling us that for His spirit to come into us when we become Christians we must change. Without this change we are like old wineshins (old QT coffee cups).  Besides that we end up being completely ineffective at leading or even participating in an uprising becuase we have no desire for change.  Could you imagine an country uprising against the

government and leaving the leaders in ther place. So I guess when all is said and done, are you going to keep playing with the  things of your childhood, or are you willing to put those things aside and become the man/woman that God has called you to be?  Are you ready to lead an uprising the likes of which the world has never seen, or are you planning on watching it from you couch?  B DFRNT!

Uprising – Fight Inside

// May 22nd, 2009 // No Comments » // 8teen:twenty

good_and_evilThis week we take a look at the fight that rages inside all of us.  No matter how good you think you are and no matter how you feel temptations will always be a part of your life.  Take a look at Romans 7:14-25 and see how difficult it was for Paul.  This week I challenge you to truly dv8 from the norms our society has laid down and become someone different.  Become something more than yourself.  Don’t just join an uprising, lead an uprising.

Fight Inside Lyrics

Enemy
Familiar friend
My beginning and my end
Knowing truth
Whispering lies
And it hurts again…

What I fear
What I try
The words I say and what I hide
All the pain
I want it to end
But I want it again

And it finds me
The fight inside is coursing through my veins
And it’s raging
The fight inside is breaking me again

It’s still the same
Pursuing pain
Isn’t worth the light I’ve gained
We both know
How this will end
But I do it again

And it finds me
The fight inside is coursing through my veins
And it’s raging
The fight inside is hurting me again
And it finds me
The war within me pulls me under
And without you
The fight inside is breaking me again

It’s nothing
(It’s everything)
It’s nothing
(It’s everything)
It’s nothing
(It’s everything)
It’s nothing
It’s everything

And it finds me
The fight inside is coursing through my veins
And it’s raging
The fight inside is hurting me again
And it finds me
The war within me pulls me under
And without you
The fight inside is breaking me again

It’s breaking me
It’s breaking me

I’m falling apart
I’m falling apart

IRLG?

irlgImprobably Really Long Game?  What’s all that about?  Well, it used to be the Impossible Never Ending Game until one of my student pointed out that with God Nothing is impossible (Phil 4:13) and that only God never ends, so we had a name change.  does that help you out any?  probably not yet, Ok, here goes.  The IRLG is played most weeks at 8teen:twenty.  Each week $5 is added to a WalMart gift card until someone wins.  Most of the activities are fairly difficult to complete correctly.  We rotate each week between a physical challenge and a mental challenge. I try to post the challenges up online each week so you can show your friends how mean Pastor Rodney truly is.  Hey, maybe I’ll turn over a new leaf again soon.  Until then, B DFRNT!

Uprising

// May 19th, 2009 // No Comments » // 8teen:twenty

uprisingThe dictionary defines Uprising as

n.

1. A sometimes limited popular revolt against a constituted government or its policies; a rebellion.
2. The act or an instance of rising or rising up.
I think in this situation we can add a third, more workable, definition.
the act of standing up against societal norm to bring about a revival towards Christ the lacks of which have not been seen in two thousand year.
It’s not about the government, it’s about our hearts.  It’s not about fighting others, but the fight within.  It’s not about the past, but the future.  Will you make an impact in your community or simply sit on the couch eating chips?

Thanks, Snowman.

Well it definitely wasn’t a white Christmas in Marietta, Ga this year, but we had a great Snow night last Wednesday. After a time of prayer and a brief discussion and challenge about the hungry here in Atlanta area the students were released to go out in the snow. Thanks to the efforts of our resident hero, flabbergasted snowman, we had a good few inches of snow to play in.
