During the month of October, NPBC will endeavor in an outreach effort to impact our community and immediate mission field through intentional community evangelism.  We are calling this local mission emphasis “LP2C.”  The name is derived from our mission statement:

New Providence Baptist Church seeks to glorify God by loving all people to Christ and helping them in their journey with God and with each other.

We are asking our members to participate in and support this short-term local mission trip.

LP2C Strategy

Our strategy is actually very simple.  It seeks to fulfill the Great Commission mandate of making disciples of all peoples as well as the Acts 1:8 challenge to be His witnesses in our Jerusalem.  For four consecutive Saturdays, we are asking our members to participate in taking the good news of Jesus Christ to the community around our church.  Members will be teamed up with volunteers from various sister churches and sent out into the community each week.  Together, we can make a difference in our community.

LP2C Dates

  • October 3, 10, 17, and 24.
  • LP2C will culminate on Saturday evening, October 31, with a neighborhood Trunk or Treat in our parking lot.

LP2C Mission Service Opportunities

As in other mission endeavors, there is a place for everyone to serve in LP2C.  Members are asked to prayerfully consider serving in one of the following areas:

(1)    Prayer Warriors – members are needed to provide prayer support for the teams going out into the community.  These prayers warriors will be provided with a prayer guide to assist them in their intercession for the LP2C mission efforts.  Church members that cannot go out into the community due to health or a physical condition are encouraged to participate in this strategic ministry.  The church sanctuary will be our prayer center each week.  Volunteers needed: 12

(2)   Pray-walking – members are needed to be part of each outreach team going into the community.  These members will be pray-walking the community while the teams engage people with the gospel message.  Volunteers needed 12

(3)   Soul winners – members are needed to intentionally take the good news of Jesus into the community.  Prior experience is not required.  Training opportunities will be offered each Saturday for individuals that need it.  The only requirement is a love for people and a desire for God to use their lives to impact eternity.  Volunteers needed: 20

(4)   Transportation team – members are needed to provide transportation to the outreach teams into the assigned neighborhoods.  The transportation team will also be available to the teams providing water, resources, and immediate assistance to any medical needs.  Volunteers needed: 5

(5)   Food service team – members are needed to plan, prepare and serve the meals during the LP2C mission project.  Volunteers needed: 6

(6)   First Aid -members are needed to provide first to the teams in the community.  First aid kits must be prepared and water bottles must be available each week.  Volunteers needed: 4

(7)   Resource coordinator – members are needed for coordination and distribution of evangelism resources to the outreach teams.  Resources include, but are not limited to, evangelistic tracts, New Testaments, and local church information cards. Volunteers needed: 4

(8)   Volunteer hospitality – members are needed to assure that outside volunteers are cared for during their ministry with us.  Care ministry includes, but is not limited to, providing directions and meeting personal needs while at NPBC. Volunteers needed: 4

LP2C Cost

Though there is no actual individual cost to be involved in the LP2C mission outreach, we are asking church members to assist by providing 1 to 4 cases of bottled water.  This water will be distributed to the teams going out into the community each week and available to everyone directly participating in LP2C.  Additionally, we are asking members to donate bags of candy for the October 31 Trunk or Treat.

Training opportunities

Church members are encouraged to participate in our upcoming Good News Training on Saturday, September 5 at 9:30 a.m.  This training event will focus on pray-walking our community.  Watch for updated news on additional training opportunities.  We will offer on LP2C Saturday’s trainings for new comers and those wanting further assistance.
