Schooled: Locker Inspection

locker_image This week we went from the backpack to the locker.  What does your locker have to do with sharing your faith in Christ with others? How can a locker help or hurt my relationship with Christ? These are both awesome questions and I hope they got answered this week.

First we took a look at Deuteronomy 6:4-9.  Obviously students don’t have gates or door posts in their houses, because, frankly, students don’t have houses.  However they do take a look at the contents of their lockers numerous times a day. Would it hurt to have a gentle reminder posted on the inside of their locker to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength”?  Students also mentioned posting a weekly memory verse in their locker door.  Both of these are awesome ideas, however I also wanted to look at ways a locker could actually hurt your relationship with Christ.

What do we put into a locker?  Pretty much things that we don’t want to carry around with us.  Do we leave Jesus in our lockers some days, or do we take Him with us to every where we go each day?  Mark 8:38 warns that if we are ashamed of Him, then He will be ashamed of us.  Not a real good thing to be happening

So, the question is, what will we do with Jesus when we get to school each day?  Put Him away in our locker until we want Him around, or live our lives to follow after Him.

Next week.  Schooled: Roll Call.  Taking a look at Christ in the classroom.
